The barracks were built in June 1941, when the massive arrival of communists caught after the « Sonnewende » operation led to a shortage of space in the existing barrack-rooms. They were used above all to hold the Jewish “Untermenschen” (sub-humans). No need therefore for windows, ventilation or heating ...
